Change the Default Install and Data Locations of the Windows Agent

Issue/Introduction

Steps to change the Agent's Installation Directory (Agent Binaries) and Data Directory (Agent Cache and other Log Files).

Environment

• App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

 

Resolution

This can only be done during initial Agent installation by using the Windows Installer parameters for INSTALLDIR and DATADIR and the paths must still be on the local machine. Example install command with these parameter adjustments:

msiexec /i "PolicyInstaller.msi" INSTALLDIR="D:\AgentBinaries\" DATADIR="D:\AgentData\" /L*v "C:\Temp\AgentInstall.log"

Additional Information

• INSTALLDIR specifies the location of the agent's binaries
• DATADIR specifies the location of agent's data like cache and log files
• The file path for the agent and data folders must be on the local machine
• Network drives are not supported.
