Supported upgrade paths for the Agent and Server software.

Environment

• App Control Server: All Supported Versions
• App Control Agent: All Supported Versions

Resolution

Server:

Currently Installed Version	Upgrade Path
8.6.0 or Higher	You can upgrade directly to the latest available release (8.12.0)
8.1.4 - 8.5.x	Upgrade to 8.11.4 first, then you can upgrade directly to the latest available release (8.12.0)
8.0.x	Upgrade to 8.1.4.98 first, then 8.11.4, then you can upgrade directly to the latest available release (8.12.0)

 

Agent:

Currently Installed Version	Upgrade Path
8.1.4 or Higher	You can upgrade to the latest available release (8.11.0)
8.0 or Lower	Upgrade to 8.7.8 first, then you can upgrade to the latest available release (8.11.0)

 

Note:

• Server versions were tested and verified to be backward compatible with older Agent versions, but older Server versions are not verified to be compatible with newer Agent versions.
• Open a case with Support to request access to Server version 8.1.4 or Agent version 8.7.8 if needed

Additional Information

• Newer Agent versions will still communicate with older Server versions (and vice versa).
• Agent features that require a specific Server version will not work until the Server is upgraded. Examples:
  • Windows Agent 8.10.0: Requires Rules Installer 1.28+
  • Windows Agent 8.9.0: Process Hollowing Protection requires Rules Installer 1.20+
  • macOS Agent 8.9.0: Trusted Publisher support requires Server 8.9.4+
  • Linux Agent 8.7.14: RHEL 9.0+ also requires Server 8.9.0+
• It is recommended to review the Release Notes for relevant versions prior to upgrade.
• It is recommended to regularly upgrade the Server and Agent to maintain parity and take advantage of enhancements.
