Carbon Black App Control (formerly Cb Protection)

Issue/Introduction

  • When a user logs in to CB Protection console, they get a login script error
  • When attempting to test AD mappings in console, users receive "SCRIPT ERROR"
  • Classes.vbs file has grown exponentially in size

Environment

  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions

Cause

  • Some unknown behavior may have caused the file to grow
  • There was a bug in unsupported versions of App Control where "Classes.vbs" under C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\Scripts was being overwritten with it's own information numerous times.

Resolution

  • Confirm that a supported version of App Control is running
  • Restart the App Control services as this file is recreated when the services are restarted
  • Check the behavior of the file after restart, does it go back to the default 62kb, shrink, or grow?
  • As a workaround, you can set the "Classes.vbs" file to Read Only. This will prevent the file from being overwritten if it's growing
