Carbon Black Cloud Endpoint Standard (formerly Cb Defense)

Issue/Introduction

What is the purpose and expected use of the grayed out policies in the Endpoint Standard Console?

Environment

  • Endpoint Standard Console: All Supported Versions

Resolution

  • If the organization was created after July 5, 2017:
    • Endpoint Standard Console> Enforce> Policies, there are 3 prenamed policies that come standard 'out of the box' with CB Defense:
      • Monitored, Standard, Advanced

  • If the organization was created before July 5, 2017:
    • Endpoint Standard Console> Enforce> Policies, there are 5 prenamed policies that come standard 'out of the box' with CB Defense:
      • Detection Servers, Restrictive Mac Workstation, Restrictive Windows Workstation, Standard Mac Workstation, and Standard Windows Workstation

  • These policies serve as a starting point for Carbon Black Cloud policy creation.
  • Rules, Permissions, and other settings in these policies can be edited, but they are grayed out and "locked" because they cannot be deleted or renamed.
