App Control: Carbon Black App Control Reporter Service Start Failure: 'Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start'

Issue/Introduction

• Not able to start the Carbon Black App Control Reporter service, following message reported:

Windows could not start the Carbon Black App Control Reporter service on Local Computer.
Error 1053:The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

• Manually starting the Carbon Black App Control Reporter service reports following message: 

Cannot start Carbon Black App Control Reporter due to not enough space on the disk.

 

Environment

• App Control Server: All Versions
• App Control Reporter service: All Versions

Cause

Disk drive ran out of space.

Resolution

• Add more space to disk drive, and/or remove extraneous files from disk drive.

Additional Information

• To start Carbon Black App Control Reporter service manually

1. Open command prompt with elevated privilege (right mouse -> Run as Administrator)
2. Run following command: 

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\Reporter>ParityReporter.exe start
