Issue/Introduction

Signature Updates can fail when Teredo tunneling is enabled

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Window Sensor: All Supported Versions
• Windows Server 2012 R2
• Local Scan and Signature Updates enabled
• Teredo tunneling enabled

Cause

The Signature update process may timeout while switching from IPv6 to IPv4

Resolution

Disable Terredo and IPv6 technologies where possible.

Additional Information

• From an Administrator Command Prompt
  • netsh int teredo set state disabled
  • netsh int ipv6 6to4 set state disabled
  • netsh int ipv6 isatap set state disabled
• Alternatively, disable via GPO
