Endpoint Standard: Cannot install msi package via LiveResponse - "This installation package could not be opened"

Issue/Introduction

• Output running execfg msiexec /i file.msi from C:\ directory where file is located

This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

• Running execfg msiexec /i C:\file.msi will work
• Running same command in C:\users is a successful install

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Console: All versions
• Endpoint Standard Sensor: All Supported Versions
• LiveResponse

Cause

LiveResponse is not designed to use relative paths

Resolution

Use the full path to the installer when executing the command

Additional Information

While some directories may work with a relative path, LiveResponse was not designed with this in mind.
