Issue/Introduction

CbDisk.sys causes BSOD when formatting a USB/SD card

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: version 3.7.0.1253
• Endpoint Standard (formerly CB Defense)
• Enterprise EDR (formerly CB ThreatHunter)
• Microsoft Windows: All Versions

Cause

When formatting a USB/SD card with the sensor version 3.7.0.1253 in an active state Blue screen appears.

Resolution

We are working on this under DSEN-15119 and will update when this is resolved.

Additional Information

• As part of the workaround, placing the sensor in bypass mode, the Blue screen does not appear.
• With sensor version 3.6 or earlier, the issue does not appear. Since the CbDisk.sys was included with the 3.7.0.1253 sensor version.
