Issue/Introduction

What do the different statuses mean for sensors - Active, Inactive, and Pending?

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Web Console (formerly PSC): All Versions
  • Endpoint Standard (formerly CB Defense) Sensor: All Versions
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions
  • Apple macOS: All Supported Versions

Resolution

Status Description
All All sensors in the organization, regardless of status
Active Sensors which have checked in within the last 30 days
Default Status selected when opening the Endpoints page
Inactive Sensors which have not checked in within the last 30 days
Pending Devices where an install email was sent to the listed user but sensor has yet to be installed
Deregistered Sensors which have been deregistered or uninstalled
Errors Sensor is reporting errors, contact support for help
Eligible for Update There is a more current version of the sensor available for deployment
Bypass Sensors have been put into Bypass mode
Quarantine Shows devices that have been put into Quarantine


To View Status Options

  1. Go to the Sensor Management/Endpoints page
  2. Click the Status filter drop-down to the right of the Search bar
  3. Select a Status to filter the list of devices below to view all devices in that status

Additional Information

Error status of a device is not explicit and may indicate a variety of technical problems - from failed or incomplete installation to a malfunction of the sensor; If it's not apparent what the problem is or how to solve it, open a Support case
