EDR: Sensors fail to connect to new server after migration - ERROR 0x80c8003c

Issue/Introduction

• Sensors were migrated from one server to another
• SensorComms.log shows HRESULT 0x80c8003c
• No sensor communication shows in /var/log/cb/nginx/access.log

Environment

• EDR Server: All Versions (Formerly CB Response)
• EDR Sensor: All Versions

Cause

The old server certificate was not migrated to the new server.

Resolution

• If this is a new server with no other sensors installed, the old server certificate can be migrated https://community.carbonblack.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/CB-Response-How-to-Migrate-Sensors-to-a-Different-CB-Response/ta-p/77533
• If the server has previously existing sensors, the migrated sensors will need to be re-installed with the server's current installation packages
