Cb Response: Server restart hangs on Nginx with Solr failing to start

Issue/Introduction

• Server start up is failing on either Nginx or Solr
• A new hprof has been generated in /var/log/cb/solr
• supervisord.log indicates that Solr is stopping and starting several times

  • 2018-09-12 09:48:57,702 INFO success: cb-solr entered RUNNING state, process has stayed up for > than 1 seconds (startsecs)
    2018-09-12 09:49:10,049 INFO exited: cb-solr (exit status 3; not expected)

• Solr's startup.out shows OutOfMemoryError

  • Starting Solr on port 8080 from /usr/share/cb/solr/server java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
    Dumping heap to /var/log/cb/solr/cb-solr.hprof ...
    Unable to create /var/log/cb/solr/cb-solr.hprof: File exists
    Terminating due to java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

    
     

Environment

• Cb Response Server: All versions

Cause

This occurs when there are not enough resources for Solr to start up properly

Resolution

• Ensure that you are following Operating Environment Requirement standards
• If environment meets OER standards and the issue persists, contact Technical Support
