CB Response: Alliance Connection Error "Tunnel connection failed: 407 Proxy Authentication Require"

Issue/Introduction

Seeing the following in the /var/log/cb/allianceclient/allianceclient.log 
 

ProxyError: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='api.alliance.carbonblack.com', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /api/v2/reputation/module/meta (Caused by ProxyError('Cannot connect to proxy.', error('Tunnel connection failed: 407 Proxy Authentication Required',)))

Environment

• CB Response server: 6.2.4+

Cause

Investigating on bug CB-28225.

Resolution

If the proxy is using basic authentification and plain password, please use the following workaround:
 

1. Change cb.conf:

FROM:

"AllianceClientProxyUrl=http://proxy_url:port"

TO:

"AllianceClientProxyUrl=http://proxy_usrename:proxy_password@proxy_url:port"

 

2. Restart services
