Carbon Black Cloud: Sensor Still Appears in Windows Even After the Sensor Removal Tool Has Been Run

Issue/Introduction

Even after using the Sensor Removal Tool Carbon Black Cloud still shows up in Windows Programs and Features or Add/Remove Programs as available to uninstall

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: 3.3.x and Higher
• Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Cause

Some versions of the uninstall tool do not remove this registry key correctly

Resolution

1. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\ in Regedit
2. Search for cb defense or carbon black if 3.5 and higher
3. Delete the corresponding key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\{Cb Defense GUID}
4. Check to confirm if CB Defense still shows up in Windows

Additional Information

The uninstall process should have already removed the confer directory before these steps need to be attempted
