Issue/Introduction

Will hiding a SQL instance from being broadcast by the SQL Browsing Service affect the App Control product?

Environment

• App Control Server: All Versions
• SQL Server: All Supported Versions

Resolution

No. The App Control server will continue to function as normal if the SQL Instance where DAS exists is being hidden from broadcast.

Additional Information

For two tier installations, Admins will need to either known the SQL instance name, or disable the hiding so the App Control server can browse the network to locate the remote SQL instance. This should not affect single tier installations, where the SQL is local and still found.
