Issue/Introduction

SQL database (DAS) is generating many *\mssql\Data\MSSQL13.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\LOG\SQLDump*.mdmp files after a system failure

Environment

  • CB Protection Server: All Versions
  • SQL Database: All Supported Versions
  • .mdmp dump files

Cause

SQL database (DAS) has crashed and the indexes are likely corrupted and the repair is failing repeatedly

Resolution

  1. Contact company database administrator (DBA) or Microsoft SQL Server Support to help analyze the .mdmp dump files to find root cause and provide repair steps.
  2. If repair fails, restore the DAS database to a last known good version before the corruption.
