App Control: Error Installing Agent on Server 2003

Issue/Introduction

• Received an error 1603 attempting to install the agent. Device restarted, however the problem persisted.
• Agent is installed, but the agent service enters a pending restart state and then returns after a period of time to a stopped state.
• Agent detects the above and rolls back the install.

Environment

• App Control Agent: All supported versions
• Microsoft Windows: All supported versions

Cause

Server 2003 was running on a hardware platform that has a Pentium III processor installed.
 

Resolution

Upgrade the hardware to a current hardware platform that supports newer CPU processors. Pentium III processors do not support the instruction set in the App Control product.
