App Control: USB Device Details Page Error - Specified device not found

Issue/Introduction

• Not able to issue a new Approval for removable devices.
• Console returns the following error:

  Specified device model not found

Environment

• App Control Server: 8.1.4 - 8.5.2

Cause

• The database stores the USB Device with the first Computer it was associated with.
• If the Computer is deleted & purged, the device becomes orphaned.
• When the Console requests the Device Details page, the request will be made to a non-existent host_id, resulting in an error.

Resolution

Server version 8.5.2 included a fix to prevent new devices from being orphaned. Existing orphaned devices will need to be manually re-associated, please open a case with Carbon Black Technical Support.
