App Control: Failed to Approve File - Failed to Ban File

Issue/Introduction

Error when trying to approve or ban a file:

• Failed to approve file
• Failed to ban file

Environment

• App Control (Formerly CB Protection) Console: 8.0 - 8.1.6

Cause

API query logic

Resolution

Upgrading the server to 8.1.8 or higher will help with this as there have been multiple code changes to help with this. Some other items that may help:

1. If a proxy is being used, bypass it on the App Control server
2. Create a hosts file DNS record to point the name of app control server to 127.0.0.1

• The above changes can shorten the time the API query takes, making it less likely to timeout/fail.

  • EP-2887 (8.0)
