Gener/OL

Issue/Introduction

This is usually caused by a mismatch between the library where CA Gener/OL looks for the user ID and password and the library where they are actually stored. The procedure for creating or editing a user definition is documented in the CA Gener/OL System Administration and Security Guide, Chapter 3, in the Security Maintenance Screens section.

If the problem occurs for all users, please go to the Defined Library section below.

If the problem only occurs for a user ID that was recently added and is logging in for the first time, then follow the procedure immediately below.

Log in to CA Gener/OL.

Select options:

4-System

5-Security

9-Install

Enter NEXT to get to the Edit Security Management Installation Parameters panel.

The first field is: Users are always defined in library? ==>

The value that is in that field is the name of the library in which all user IDs must be created. Note this library name.

Now press F3 twice to go back to the Gener/OL Security Maintenance Menu.

Select Option 1-Edit

You will have a list of all user IDs on your instance of Gener/OL. The Library name at the top of the panel should be the same as the library name in the 'Users are always defined in library?' field on the Edit Security Management Installation Parameters panel. To double check, put a slash(/) next to the user ID that is having the error and Enter. This will take you to the Edit a User panel for that user. At the top of the panel you should see that same library name. If you do not, then you created the user in the wrong library. Users must be created in the library that is specified in the Installation Parameters panel. To correct the problem, re-define the new user ID and password in the correct library.

DEFINED LIBRARY

During installation of CA Gener/OL the installer specifies a library to store all user IDs and passwords. Gener/OL will always look in this library for user IDs and passwords. If no one can get into Gener/OL, it usually means that the library designation has been changed. You will need to log in to Gener/OL using the UTILITY user ID that is documented on page 3-5 of the CA Gener/OL System Administration and Security Guide r7.1.

After you have logged in, select options:

4-System

5-Security

9-Install

Enter NEXT to get to the Edit Security Management Installation Parameters panel.

The first field is: Users are always defined in library? ==>

Change this to the name of the library where your user IDs and passwords are stored. The default is SGTLIB1, but it is not unusual for facilities to change this. After you have made the change you may log out of Gener/OL and try to log back in immediately. There is no need to recycle CICS.
