CB Response: Linux Sensor Does Not Connect When Using Custom Sensor Certificates and Proxy Settings

Issue/Introduction

When using a custom certificate for sensor communication along with proxy settings in the sensorsettings.ini file, the sensor will not communicate over proxy
Error message similar to the following in the cbdaemon.log on the sensor:
curl_wrapper.cpp:713: Failed to communicate with server via proxy[test-ipv4-proxy.cbtest.com:6256] hr[2160590904] – retrying without proxy

 

Environment

  • Carbon Black Response Sensor: 6.3.0 and higher
  • Linux: All Supported Versions

Cause

Proxy setting does not work with custom certificates

Resolution

CB-30175 is under investigation

Additional Information

  • Please subscribe to this KB article for updates and the fix to CB-30175
  • Linux sensor custom certificates is introduced with the 7.1.0 server and 6.3.0 sensor versions
  • Sensor will retry communication without the proxy after a few failed attempts to connect over the proxy setting
