Issue/Introduction

When editing the carbon black file reputation proxy settings section, the url field value containing ip address:port (i.e. 10.10.1.100:80) format results in "Supplied URL is not valid" error message.

Environment

App Control 8.8+

Cause

The url field value must contain prefix of http:// or https://

Resolution

  • Add http:// or https:// prefix in the url field to have a value of http://ipaddress:port
  • For example: http://10.10.1.100:80 or https://10.0.1.100:443

Additional Information

App Control 8.7 proxy config will accept a value without the http:// or https:// prefix(s).

Adjust and test the settings:

  • Browse to and login to your App Control admin console
  • Top right corner click on gear icon/cog wheel > select system configuration
  • Browse to the licensing tab > scroll down to the carbon black file reputation proxy settings section
  • Edit the url field w/ ip address:port specifed (i.e. 10.10.1.100:80)
  • Click the test button
