Carbon Black Cloud Endpoint Standard (formerly Cb Defense)

Issue/Introduction

  • System crash (BSOD) observed on some machines running 3.3.0.953

Environment

  • Cb Defense Sensor: 3.3.0.953
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Cause

  • So far these crashes have only been observed on Windows 7 and Windows 10, however it is possible to occur on other versions
  • Carbon Black has reproduced one issue which can results in a BSOD
  • Engineering is currently investigating other potential causes for BSODs

Resolution

Carbon Black is aware of the issue where the 3.3 Sensor is causing BSOD. Please see the following post for more information and remediation.

3.3 Windows Sensor Rollback
 

If you have already upgraded to 3.3 we recommend that you follow these steps to roll back to 3.2:

  1. Uninstall 3.3, following any of the instructions found here: https://community.carbonblack.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/Cb-Defense-How-to-Uninstall-Windows-Sensor/ta-p/42739
  2. Install version 3.2, which can be downloaded from the UI
