Issue/Introduction

Does cbupgrade execute when cbcluster is started?

Environment

• EDR Server: 7.x and higher

Resolution

Yes, if the CarbonBlack.repo is enabled, then cbupgrade is called when starting cbcluster.  This can delay the start of the cbcluster.

Additional Information

• Disabling CarbonBlack.repo may reduce the time required to start a cluster.  If the repo is disabled, EDR skips over a connection to the repo to check for an EDR upgrade during cbcluster start.
• It is recommended to disable CarbonBlack.repo if not currently being used to upgrade EDR server. 
• Best practice is to create a backup prior to enabling Carbon Black repo to start an upgrade.
