Local UI icon on end point disappears without back end intervention

Issue/Introduction

Carbon Black Cloud Local UI icon disappears on the end point without any changes being made in the console.

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Windows Sensor: All Supported Versions

Cause

• "Carbon Black Cloud Sensor Notification Utility xxx" process has stopped or failed to start
• The sensor is stuck in error status.

Resolution

1. Restart the "Carbon Black Cloud Sensor Notification Utility xxx" process by double clicking on C:\Program Files\Confer\RepUx.exe. The icon should then reappear in the task tray;
2. If the issue persists or reappears after reboot, reinstall the sensor to bring it out of error status.

Additional Information

• The Enforce -> Policies -> Sensor -> "Display sensor message in system tray" determines whether the UI icon shows up and if the process itself runs in task manager.
• This setting can be disabled to stop this process from spawning multiple times in a multi-user environment.
