EDR: Unable To Automate Port Forwarding From Port 80 To Port 8443 After Customizing WebUI Conneciton

Issue/Introduction

Receiving "server unexpectedly closed the connection" or "cannot establish secure connection" when attempting to redirect the WebUI to port 8443 after implementing steps here: https://community.carbonblack.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/CB-Response-How-to-customize-the-web-UI-port/ta-p/63617

Environment

• EDR Server: All Versions

Cause

"https://" is being used at front of URL for loading WebUI, which is attempting to redirect from port 443 to port 8443; this cannot occur as the sensors are using port 443 for server communications and would cause all sensor comms to drop if this redirect was allowed.

Resolution

Change WebUI URL to use "http://" then attempt to load the WebUI - this allows port 80 and the automatic redirect to work, loading WebUI on port 8443.

Additional Information

Bookmark the new URL once it loads, otherwise the original issue will recur with attempting to load the WebUI using port 443.
