Issue/Introduction

A S0C4 or U3002 abend can result in the COBOL compile (IGYCRCTL) in an Endevor processor.

Resolution

This can happen if SIZE compile option is not specified selected. The resolution is to specify SIZE(####). If no SIZE is referenced, the default is MAX, which uses all below the line storage.

Additional Information

In Enterprise COBOL V5.1, the SIZE option value is no longer an upper-limit for the total storage used by a COBOL compilation. In addition, the SIZE suboption value MAX is no longer supported. The default value for the SIZE option is SIZE(5000000).

From Enterprise COBOL V5.2, the SIZE option has been removed.
