CB Defense: Does The Sensor Need To Be Installed Onto the Host And Guest OS?

Issue/Introduction

For end user operating systems hosting VMs, should the sensor be installed on the host operating system or the virtualized operating system or both?

Environment

• CB Defense Sensor: All supported versions
• Microsoft Windows: All supported versions
• Apple macOS: All supported versions
• Virtual machine hosted by end-user operating system

Resolution

The CB Defense sensor will need to be installed on the host and guest operating systems.

Additional Information

The sensor will only have visibility into the operating system it has been installed onto, meaning that for it to cover a virtual machine it would need to be installed onto that virtual machine in addition to the host OS.
