Upgrade the Operating System of an App Control Server

Issue/Introduction

Steps to upgrade the Operating System of the application server hosting the App Control Server software.

Environment

• App Control Server: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft Windows Server: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft IIS: All Supported Versions

Resolution

1. Make a full backup the DAS database.
2. Backup the Agent Communication Certificate.
3. Backup the IIS Certificate.
4. If an Agent is installed on the application server, follow guidance accordingly.
5. Uninstall the App Control Server software.
6. Uninstall IIS.
7. Upgrade the Operating System.
8. Install IIS following the Common Requirements guidance of the Operating Environment Requirements.
9. Setup and install App Control:
   • It's recommended to install the same App Control Server version that was in use before the OS upgrade.
   • When prompted, use the Console & IIS Certificates that were backed up in Steps 2 and 3.
   • When prompted, choose "Use Existing Database".
10. Verify the ability to log in to the Console.
11. Verify the Agents are connecting.
