Issue/Introduction

Is the App Control Server Supported in AWS (Amazon Web Services) , GCP (Google Cloud Platform), and Microsoft Azure?

Environment

  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions
  • Microsoft Windows Server: All Supported Versions
  • Microsoft SQL Server: All Supported Versions
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Microsoft Azure

Resolution

Yes, the App Control Server can be installed in a cloud environment. Some considerations for this type of deployment would include:

  • Specific SKU's from the cloud provider would be required to meet the disk throughput
    • Review: TechDocs > Server OER > App Control Server Architecture by Endpoint Count
  • Disk Throughput (and all other OER requirements) should be confirmed with the cloud provider before implementation.
  • Existing installations would follow the migration process.
  • Using a SQL Platform as a Service (PaaS) is currently not supported.

Additional Information

  • The Server OER and SQL Server Configuration Guides should be reviewed in their entirety prior to installation and deployment.
  • These items are located within Tech Docs under "Carbon Black App Control Server".
