Issue/Introduction

Does App Control support encrypting the SQL database and/or encrypting the communication with SQL Server?

Environment

• App Control Server: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft SQL Server: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft Windows Server: All Supported Versions

Resolution

App Control Database Encryption

The App Control database works with Transparent Data Encryption TDE using AES 256. However; a direct comparison of the Server's performance while encrypted vs unencrypted has not been measured, and cannot be guaranteed.

 

App Control Server/Database Communication Encryption

When SQL Server is configured to Force Encryption, the App Control Server will establish an encrypted communication connection automatically.
