License Fails to Import During New Installation

Issue/Introduction

Specifying a License Key during a new Server installation fails with an error similar to:

Specified key is not a valid Carbon Black App Control license key

Environment

• App Control Server: 8.11.0 and lower

Cause

This issue was tracked under EPCB-23790 and resolved with the release of Server 8.11.2.

Resolution

As a workaround, the following steps can be followed:

1. When prompted for a License Key choose "Evaluation License" to install in a 7 Day Demo Mode.
2. After installation, log in to the Console and navigate to: Settings > System Configuration > Licensing.
3. Import the License file or paste the contests of the .lic to apply the correct license.
