Issue/Introduction
Steps to change the Server Address, FQDN, or hostname of the App Control Server.
Environment
App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
App Control Server: All Supported Versions
Resolution
Verify the DNS Server
has entries to
Forward the old Server Address to the new Server Address.
Resolve the new Server Address accordingly.
Important
Do not proceed until the DNS & networking changes are confirmed to be working.
Update the Server Address
to match the new name
Log in to the Console and navigate to Settings > System Configuration > General > Edit.
Change the Server Address to match the new name.
Update the Communication Certificate
In the Console navigate to Settings > System Configuration > Security
Follow the steps to
replace the Communication Certificate
.
Be sure to use a
Subject Alternative Name
with the old Server Address.
Be sure to note the Certificate Update Schedule and specify accordingly.
Update the IIS Certificate
The Certificate bound to Port 443 in
IIS will need to be updated
.
The same certificate used for Agent Communication can be used.
Additional steps
may be required depending on the environment
Existing Agents will continue to attempt to connect via the old Server Address, unless manually updated using the
setserver command
.
If SAML is in use,
the Identity Provider may need to be reconfigured
with the updated XML containing the new hostname.
Additional Information
An Agent Upgrade will not change the Server Address the Agent uses.
If the Console is inaccessible after making the changes,
verify or make changes as outlined here
