Carbon Black Cloud Endpoint Standard (formerly Cb Defense)

Issue/Introduction

Change a sensor from Manually Assigned to Auto-Assigned, thereby allowing a sensor to be automatically assigned to an existing Sensor Group, based on its criteria

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud (formerly PSC) Sensor: January '18 Release and Later

Resolution

  1. Select the Endpoints Page from the left-hand menu in the Carbon Black Cloud Console
  2. Select the sensor(s) you wish to Auto-Assign
  3. From the 'Take Action' drop-down menu select 'Assign policy'
  4. Select Automatic assignment option
  5. Click the 'Save' Button

Additional Information

  • The default status of Sensors when installed via the Unattended Installation method and specifying the 'Group_Name' syntax, is 'Manually Assigned'
  • If Sensor Groups are configured in the environment, it will override what is set at install. To override the automatic grouping, manual policy assignment post install is required.
  • Sensors prior to 3.6.0.1897 did not report metadata updates unless a change had been made, this would effect sensor grouping and cause some endpoints to get stuck on "manually assigned".
