Endpoint Standard: Issues in accessing Microsoft Teams

• Carbon Black Cloud Endpoint Standard (formerly Cb Defense)

Issue/Introduction

• Team application launches successfully however the application is unable to connect to Microsoft servers .
• Application works fine when sensor is in bypass mode

Environment

• Endpoint Standard Sensor: 3.6.0.1791
• Microsoft Teams: Any supported version

Cause

Carbon Black Cloud File permissions have been modified

Resolution

1. Navigate to c:\windows\system32
2. Find files c:\windows\system32\ctiuser.dll and c:\windows\syswow64\ctiuser.dll
3. Right click > Properties > Security. Confirm that "All Application packages", "All Restricted Application Packages", and "System" are there and has read/read & execute permissions on the two files.
