Issue/Introduction
To upgrade to the 8.1.6.436 release
Environment
- CB Protection Server: All Supported Versions
Resolution
If on 8.1.5 or older:
- Install the ParityServerSetup.exe using the normal upgrade steps:

If currently on 8.1.6.434:
- Backup the console certificate:

- Backup the IIS certificate

- Uninstall Cb Protection Server application:
- Login to the Cb Protection Server
- If the Cb Protection agent is installed on the server, set it to a disabled mode
- Navigate to Start > Run > type “appwiz.cpl > click OK.
- Programs and Features will open
- Find and select "Cb Protection Server" (Bit9 Server in 7.x)
- Click "Remove" or "Uninstall"
- Wait for uninstall to complete
- Reboot the CB Protection server
- Re-install using 8.1.6.436
- When prompted, use certificates that were backed up in step 2 and 3
- When prompted, choose "use existing database"
- OR, if a reboot is not possible:
- Contact Carbon Black support
- A hotfix installer will be given
- Install the hotfix using the same steps as a server upgrade:

Additional Information
- The hotfix option is CB Protection version 8.1.7.3
- 8.1.7.3 contains the same code as 8.1.6.436
