App Control: SQL Server Native Client Was Not Successfully Installed.

Issue/Introduction

App Control fails to install with the error:

There were fatal errors while installing. Installation Failed.

Followed by:

SQL Server 2012 SP3 Native Client was not successfully installed. Carbon Black App Control Server installer cannot continue.

Environment

• App Control Server: 8.10.0.484
• SQL Express
• Two Tier Installation

Cause

Issue with the 8.10.0.484 build

Resolution

1. Manually install the SQL Server Native Client: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=50402
2. Re-run the App Control Server installation.

Additional Information

This will be fixed in an upcoming release of 8.10
