Issue/Introduction

  • Administrator is trying to add an FQDN to include in the "on-prem" list of end points.

Environment

  • Endpoint Standard: All Versions

Cause

The following error appears when an administrator tries to add an  FQDN similar to this:  ABC.cogswellcogs.com
 
"Please enter a valid public IP address not in subnet ranges 10.X.X.X 172.X.X.X 192.168.X.X 169.254.X.X 127.0.0.1"

Resolution

DNS entries are case sensitive and one or more characters in the name is UPPER case, which is causes an error.

Additional Information

  • Changing "ABC" to "abc" fixes the problem with the case syntax issue
