CB Defense: Incompatibility with sensor and Chrome 78

• Carbon Black Cloud Endpoint Standard (formerly Cb Defense)

Issue/Introduction

• Chrome does not run with the Defense sensor active
• Placing the sensor in bypass allows Chrome to function normally

Environment

• CB Defense Sensor: 3.4.0.1052 and Lower
• Chrome 78

Cause

Unknown issues with Chrome 78 

Resolution

Upgrade to sensor 3.4.0.1070 or higher

Additional Information

A temporary workaround is to disable Renderer Code Integrity. From a command prompt on the affected endpoint run:

REG ADD "HKLM\Software\Policies\Google\Chrome" /v RendererCodeIntegrityEnabled /t REG_DWORD /d 0
