How to place a sensor in bypass mode to perform a in place OS upgrade

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Windows Sensor
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Resolution

The recommendation while upgrading Window 7 to Windows 10 is to put the sensor in bypass mode. To enable sensor in bypass mode:
  1. Launch an elevated command prompt (cmd.exe > right-click > Run as administrator) 
  2. Run the following command to put the sensor into bypass
  3. "C:\Program Files\Confer\Uninstall.exe" /bypass 1 
Perform the OS upgrade. When the OS upgrade is complete, you will want to move the sensor out of bypass
  1. Launch an elevated command prompt (cmd.exe > right-click > Run as administrator)
  2. Run the following command to put the sensor out of bypass
  3. "C:\Program Files\Confer\Uninstall.exe" /bypass 0
