Issue/Introduction

When subscribed to receive notifications for a specific backend such as CB Defense - 05 and additional components such as CB ThreatHunter - US and CB LiveOps - US, why are notification emails being sent for CB Defense backends that are not actively subscribed to?

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Status Page

Resolution

  • The observed behavior is to be expected and not reflective of an issue with the notifications. For example a user subscribed to only CB Defense - 05 and CB ThreatHunter - US would have received notifications on the April 28th scheduled maintenance for the following backends:
    • CB Defense 01
    • CB Defense 02
    • CB Defense 05
  • The April 28th maintenance included the below components which contains region based components not specific to a backend:
    • CB LiveOps – US (CB Live Query Result Processing, CB Live Query Public API), CB ThreatHunter - US (CBTH Event Processing, CBTH Watchlist Processing, CBTH Watchlist and Reporting, CBTH Search), and CB Defense - 01 (Dashboard, Device Services, Event Processing, Notification Services, API Services, CDC Reputation - Services, VMware AppDefense Integration Service, Cloud Analysis Service).
