Issue/Introduction

Why does CB Response have dependencies on X11 .rpm packages?

Environment

  • CB Response Server: All Versions

Resolution

Java Developer SDK has dependencies on the X11 libraries so indirectly CB Response has a dependency on those libraries as well.

Additional Information

  • CB Response heavily relies on Solr/Lucene storage/indexing engine to function. Solr/Lucene is a Java-based package, and in order to be able to troubleshoot specific issues around memory/scale/performance, the Java Developer SDK must be available on the machine. Removing this dependency would cripple supportability of CB Response.
  • The following are the X11 .rpm packages in question:
xorg-x11-fonts-Type1-7.5-9.el7.noarch.rpm
xorg-x11-font-utils-7.5-21.el7.x86_64.rpm
