Issue/Introduction

You can use the Text Import Wizard in Excel to import the raw data from a text file.

The Text Import Wizard will assist and can help to ensure that the data is imported in the way that you want.

  • The raw file format is correct
  • Excel must force the values to be loaded as a text field (before import).

Steps to fix your RAW data import:

  1.  Rename the data file by saving the file as .txt
  2. Open Excel, then open the saved file

  3. The import wizard will start

  4. Select to import as "Text" for both "Project Number" and "Google ID"

NOTE: Use the import wizard to specify the format of each column individually.

Microsoft recommends, ... "Choose the data format that closely matches the preview data so that Excel can convert the imported data correctly. ... To convert a column of all number characters to the Excel Text format, select Text."
