AWS Account Name vs Amazon Name

Issue/Introduction

 

Terminology:

 

• Account Name = CloudHealth friendly name for the account. This field can be edited in CloudHealth via UI or API.
• Amazon Name = AWS friendly for accounts. This field can be edited in AWS.
• Owner ID = Unique identifier for AWS accounts.

Resolution

CloudHealth collects the Amazon Name through the Organization API (product updates page) and will update the Amazon Name if it changes in AWS.  The platform needs read access to the account (Healthy or Warning status) to pull the Amazon Name via API.

The Cost History report will use the “Amazon Name” unless the “Account Name” field is updated to something else so if no action is taken, the Cost History report will show the Amazon Name.
