Remove AWS Prepay Services from Custom Line Items

Issue/Introduction

 

Amortization Reports in CloudHealth exclude a set of services so that the reports do not double count amortization and prepays. The services are automatically removed via an exclude filter when you click the Amortized Report.

 

In AWS, these are the current prepay services we that we amortize and therefore automatically remove from the report:

RDS - RI Prepay
EC2 - RI Prepay
Redshift - Reserved Nodes Prepay
DynamoDB - Reserved Prepay Read
DynamoDB - Reserved Prepay Write
ElastiCache - Reserved Nodes Prepay
Elasticsearch - RI Prepay
Savings Plan - Upfront Fee

Resolution

These prepays are also relevant in Custom Line Items.  For example, if you need to create a Custom Line Item that is not based on upfront payments/prepay services, you would want to exclude "Prepay Services".  However, you will be blocked from excluding other Services if you select "Prepay Services".

Notice in the below screen shot that you cannot select anything outside of "Prepay Services".

In that case, you won't be able to use "Prepay Services, and will need to manually select the above list of AWS prepays to replicate "Prepay Services".  Keep in mind that this list can change based on AWS or CH supporting more reservable services.
