Issue/Introduction

Setting the "Auto-Delete Empty Dynamic Groups" function to "On" in a Perspective will automatically remove any groups in the Perspective that have no assets categorized in them (0 Assets).  This feature however will not remove empty groups if the Perspective is referenced in a Policy, a Subscription, Cost Reallocation rule, or has any other dependency.  This is done so that a that any other part of the product that references or is dependent upon the empty Perspective Group(s) presence will not be affected by the automatic deletion.

Resolution

This is expected behavior.  Empty groups that have external dependencies will not automatically be deleted.

To test for dependencies on an empty dynamic group that was not auto-deleted, in the Perspective editor simply click the "Trash-can" icon in a group as if you were manually deleting a group.  A list of dependent Policies, Subscriptions, and/or will be show in a dialog.  You may wish to remove the dependency and then perform any maintenance on the Perspective or leave the empty group if it will be used again.

Selecting YES will delete the empty group and Policy or other item dependent on it.

NOTE: Deleted dependencies are dropped from the system and cannot be restored!  They must be rebuilt manually.
