Issue/Introduction

In CloudHealth Asset reports, instances can be set to active or inactive status if the platform is no longer receiving costs for the instance, or the instance has been deleted or terminated by your cloud provider.

Resolution

When instances are derived, they will remain toggled active until 4 hours have passed without any hourly charges for that instance.  Once 4 hours have passed, the platform will toggle that instance to be set to inactive during the next nightly processing cycle.  Assets are set to inactive in the Asset report as soon as the platform stops receiving them in an API response from AWS.  When an EC2 instance is terminated, CloudHealth shows it as active until AWS stops returning it in the ec2DescribeInstances calls that the platform makes.  Assets are only reported on for 12 months after they stop producing cost.
