Issue/Introduction

Below are answers to common questions regarding Azure reservations and how the platform represents them:

Resolution

Q: When a new Reservation Order (RO) is collected as "derived", and then later correct permissions are added to the RO to a Service Principal, the derived flag is switched to false.  Is it necessary to reprocess the data?
A: No, reprocessing is not necessary. The RO will now automatically show up in relevant reports after it is assigned to a Service Principal, switching the derived flag to false.

Q: Without the RO reader role, we can’t make accurate VM RI recommendations.  Does this also prevent recommendations from showing in the Health Check report?A: Yes, because the Reservation section of the Health Check report is just querying the Optimizer.

Q: What does it mean when the Service column is “Recurring” for an RI?
A: This means that is a monthly recurring charge, rather than an upfront one.

Q: Why don’t I see my reservations?
A: If the reservations are for the current month: the Azure API that we use for current month reservations is typically not super up to date, sometimes it can take up to two weeks for us to start seeing current month reservations.
If the reservations are for a historical month or it has been over two weeks: Verify that the subscription that the reservation is under is present and configured correctly.  Be sure to check both in the end customer and partner tenant for those configurations.
