Issue/Introduction

A Partner has the option to change the currency of the AWS Partner Generated Billing Statements to a currency of their choice - AWS only invoices in USD, but the platform can convert the statement values to a different currency.

When setting the currency, a Partner is able to set the date when platform will start generating the statements in the chosen currency. The 3 options are:

  • First day of the month
  • Last day of the month
  • Custom day of the month

This will generate the customer statement in the chosen currency from the date chosen, using the exchange rate from the same date.
The currency conversion rates are currently pulled from Oanda.

Statements will then be processed with the chosen currency from the next statement processing run.  Every time statements are generated, the platform performs currency conversion.  CloudHealth does not wait for finalized bills.

Statements are processed every morning around 6am EST.

Resolution

Note:

If you update the currency configuration then currency conversion in historical statements will not be changed unless the statements get regenerated for historical months - if you require historical statements to be changed, please open a Support Ticket asking for billing to be re-run for the months in question.

For standard conversion - the platform keeps track of historical conversion rates, so rates are appled correctly across historical months (as long as the currency remains the same). If the currency changes, historical statements are updated based on the new config on reruns.
For custom conversion - CloudHealth does not keep track of historical conversion rates which means historical statements if re-run will use the configured rate.
