Issue/Introduction

Discovered some of the alerts have been non functional due to infrastructure agent changes causing the metric groupings to stop reporting metrics values (zero results).  How to set up alerts for metric groupings when they stop getting metrics? Or how to monitor alert status?

Resolution

In the APM metric view, you can monitor the following. Based on alert status, this metric value will change.

 

Example path:

 

SuperDomain|Custom Metric Host (Virtual)|Custom Metric Process (Virtual)|Custom Metric Agent (Virtual)|Alerts| My ALERTS: <alert name>

 

These will be the values of this metric based on the status of the alert:

 

Red octagon or square  Danger 3

Yellow diamond or triangle  Caution 2

Green disc  Normal 1

Gray disc  Not Reporting 0
