Issue/Introduction

You are seeing some of the probes being green in IM or Admi Console, however they appear not be working (the probes are not processing and log has stopped) and despite the state being active (green) they do not have a PID and a PORT assigned in IM.

A restart of the robot usually fixes the issue, but it may occur again.

What can be causing the issue?

Environment

DX UIM 20.4.* / 23.4

Cause

Reviewing the problematic machines locally it may be observed that the server has a high CPU Usage, hitting 100%. The high CPU usage on the machines may cause communication issues between the controller and the probes. The controller sends “_stop” callbacks to unresponsive probes, but due to their own high CPU usage, they may not receive them. Consequently, the controller starts new probe processes, leading to multiple ports associated with the same process ID.

Resolution

It's imperative to reduce CPU and memory consumption, possibly leveraging CDM for monitoring. Any UIM processes consuming excessive resources should be optimized to mitigate the issue.
